Here is the most ambitious piece in our reinterpretation of "The Starry Night". This Lapolemik poster depicts Van Gogh as he might have been free-spirited, laid-back, skating down Venice Beach with his arms wide open, his masterpiece swirling in the sky behind him as if his canvas had decided to escape from the Museum of Modern Art in New York to find its way to the California beach.
Printed on textured Fine Art paper in our Saint-Malo workshop, this poster is an artistic creation in its own right. The art paper magnifies the textures of the image, reveals the nuances of the sky in spirals of cobalt and indigo, and makes the sulfur-yellow flashes of the stars shimmer. It is the same care for the material that Van Gogh brought to his pigments, a respect for the medium as an extension of the work.
Post-Impressionism, street art, pop culture, skate culture, this poster brings together everything Lapolemik has always wanted to bring into conversation. Hang it up. Look at it. Let it remind you that beauty doesn’t ask for permission.
